Emma Taylor remembers her sister, Elva Jean....
For the ones that don’t know, before I was born, my dad had some serious health problems, and back then, small children couldn’t go to the hospital and visit the patients. So when my dad was put in the hospital, I would have to go and stay with Elva Jean and Faborn.
Any time I was at their home, I was always treated the same as their kids. Any time that I was around Elva Jean we always had some good talks. If we knew anyone that was sick or going through any kind of problem we always prayed. She always showed love and respect to everyone.
My kids and grand kids always loved to go to Elva Jean’s home. They said, “there is such peace there.” My grandson Justin thought he was so lucky because when he was there, Elva Jean always made blue berry muffins. He always had trouble with her name, so he always called her “Sister Blue Berry” all through his life.
But one of the most amazing things about Elva Jean was that one day, when my daughter Lori was there with me, visiting, we lead her to the Lord and Elva Jean baptized her in the bathtub. What a day!
In the last days of her life, we really did as the bible said. We rejoiced, and praised God in her death, because we knew where she was going.
